Nina Wertz

Nina Wertz is a pianist, vocalist and composer. She has been composing music for 24 years, singing and playing the piano for 27 years. Nina studied Music Theory at The Academy of Music in Cracow (BMus, MA) and Piano Performance at The Władysław Żeleński State Upper Music School (graduated with honours) in Cracow. She took part in many festivals and competitions as a pianist, vocalist and composer and toured with her family ensemble in Europe.

Singer

She trained with jazz singer Lana Merkulova during courses organized by Chervona Ruta Festival (2001), where Nina was awarded 2nd prize. In 2011 she performed as a backing vocalist with Polish pop star Maryla Rodowicz during her tour “50”. Nina held the publishing house and produced her solo album, 3 singles and a video. She made several television appearances on breakfast shows and main stream media Festivals such as Top-Trendy POLSAT, Opole Festival in TVP1.

Pianist

Nina has extensive experience playing the piano, which includes classical, entertainment and flamenco music. This has been with:
  • Birmingham Royal Ballet,
  • Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham,
  • Midland Theatre Ballet,
  • Cracow „L’Art de la Danse".

Composer

Nina has been composing music for 24 years, including songs for children, pop and rock songs, instrumental classical and entertainment music. As recently as August 2019 she entered The UK Songwriting Contest. All 4 musical pieces she presented in The Contest have received 5 star ratings and 3 of them went through to the Semi-Finals.

Educational work with children

Nina has 10 years of experience with children aged 5-16 as a private tutor and a teacher at Mozart Music School in Cracow. Tutoring includes playing the piano, singing and music theory.
Four performances were given with songs from between the Two World Wars at The Secondary School No. 1. Nina was in charge of vocal preparation and piano accompaniment.
In 2010 she led the workshop entitled “What does music express?” within the three-day workshop for the children aged 14-16 “What does art express? Word-Music-Dance”.
